What is Akaushi?
Akaushi (Ah-Ka-OO-Shi) is a premier breed of (Red) Wagyu and are known worldwide for their distinct marbling that gives Akaushi beef a melt-in-your-mouth texture and rich, buttery flavor. Akaushi beef has a significantly higher ratio of Monounsaturated Fatty Acid (MUFA) to SFAs, naturally provides a high level of Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), and is also a natural source of oleic acid, the same compound found in olive oil.
Akaushi cattle consistently produce high USDA Quality Grade carcasses. Recent carcass data shows Akaushi cattle grade an average of 51.4% Prime and 47.4% Choice, which is driving Akaushi beef demand.

Our family has eaten about 400 pounds of Sundowner Hill Akaushi and it’s all been fantastic. We’ve had mostly grass fed but have tried grain as well. Our favorites are the ground beef, ribeyes and New Yorks! Highly recommended, especially with them being a local family farm.

Fantastic beef. You get what you pay/ wait for. Grass fed beef for all the reasons you can research but also excellent tasting beef from the folks at Sundowner. Our cow spent 3 years free ranging on the Texas Gulf Coast grasslands and you can see every bit of that time and effort in the quality of the beef. Great customer service and experience overall. Definitely will be returning when this purchase runs out but it may be while with a half beef.
